About the role
This role will have direct responsibility for delivery of the Company’s test & validation campaign which ranges from cell level, module level, pack level through to system level. Major elements of this role will be developing and maintaining ongoing test campaigns and infrastructure development to support the continuing development of the Hibernium™ platform.
This is an exciting opportunity for a talented Test Engineering Manager to join our fast-growing Test team.
What will you be doing?
- You will be responsible for the execution of clients test & validation campaign. You will be tasked with a single overarching goal of proving that the clients Hibernium™ platform is robust and reliable.
- You will get to build and develop a multi-million euro test & validation infrastructure for cell, module, pack and system level high-voltage lithium-ion batteries.
- You will have a deep full-spectrum in-house capability with regard to test. We do everything ourselves so you will have to build and run a full test lab.
- You will lead a team of around 5 test engineers/technicians.
- You will be exposed to the bleeding edge of electric vehicle battery technology and be responsible for proving and validating the next-generation of battery systems that are disrupting world today.
Requirements
- This cannot be your first test lab. You need to have demonstrated several years running a multi-million euro test and validation environment.
- You need to know how to buy equipment. You will be responsible for millions of euros of spend on equipment. You need to know how to find good suppliers, perform factory acceptance testing and then lead the installation and commission of that equipment (supported by facilities).
- You need to have led a team of test engineers (minimum 5) and have been responsible for their performance management as well as daily technical direction and objective setting.
- You need experience in a relevant field such as automotive, aerospace or defence with a strong emphasis on environmental testing, shock & vibration and other forms of endurance and reliability testing. The batteries go everywhere – we have to prove they will work.
- Specific experience from an automotive Tier 1 supplier, automotive OEM or automotive contract engineering consultancy would be highly advantageous.
- Our client builds their batteries onsite in Claregalway familiarity with relevant battery testing standards such as UN38.3, ECE R100, UL2580 would be advantageous.
- Experience and understanding of high- power electrical testing (load and duty cycling of high voltage battery packs) would be highly advantageous.
- You need to be a clear communicator and proficient in explaining and delivering complex technical information. You will have the authority to stop production lines – you need to be able to explain critical information across departments and functions.
